Meeting with my American Relatives 1

One day, when I was a small kid, my mother and I got on a train to go to the city where my relatives were living at the time. We got off the train and we took a taxi to the gate of an interesting building. A gate keeper checked our clearance pass and we could enter that large facility. It was the US base camp where they lived.
The scenery inside the camp was very different from ordinary Japanese scenery. Houses had lawn gardens without fences. It was like a miniature America. That was the first time for me to see such American TV drama-like scenery in an actual situation, so I was very curious about that.
The family had three daughters whose ages were close to mine. We played together and we watched a popular anime show on TV. We talked to each other in Japanese because they were bilingual at the time.
However, when they talked to their parents, they switched their language to English. I felt that was cool and I decided that I will speak English like them someday.
Because of the anti-Vietnam war movements and the harsh students activities that happened in Japan like in the US. Some of the US base camps in Japanese mainland were closed. Therefore, the family moved to Okinawa, and then, they returned to the US.
Mamy years later, they returned to Japan for the reunion. To be continued.

Winter

In winter time, some types of animals hibernate in mountains, while some types of birds migrate from the north to the south searching for warmer place. Frost covers over a land in a cold winter morning.

Since I am living in climate which is similar to GA, I have never experienced blizzard. Making a snow angel is not a common play for kids here but my American friend told me about that before.

Memory of the Japan Series

When my town’s franchise baseball team was about to win in the Japanese World Series, I went to a big shopping mall where a public viewing event was taking place. Since I had experienced several public viewing events before that, I had already known how exciting it was going to be. For that reason, I went to the mall with my friend.

The shape of the mall was round and it had several floors. It was an idealistic shape for fans to watch on the big screen which was set on the wall. Probably, several thousands of people were watching and supporting our team. Fans were singing theme songs for each player like in the real stadium and they raised the roof and clapped their hands when the team got on base or produced a run.

During the final inning, our excitement was about to reach its peak. Many people were making noise with roaring voices to hinder the opposing pitcher’s concentration, even though the pitcher was not at the mall himself. Then, the excitement reached its peak when our team won. People exploded in exultation. Extra newspapers were given for the winning team's fans.

In this essay, I described my exciting public viewing experience. What made this event exciting was that people was able to feel the same excitement and realistic sensations like the people watching the game in the actual stadium.

Electric Supply after Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident

After the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, harsh arguments happened. Many people began to think that either we continue to use nuclear energy or we should consider shifting our energy supply to safer energy sources.

The electricity supply is one of the most important issues in modern life. These arguments are still going on in Japan. Even though, after all the nuclear power plants have been stopped, we could still supply enough electricity, because more clean energy sources have begun to be used along with oil and charcoal are beginning to be used more to produce electricity as a compromising solution to make up for nuclear power plants. In the end, these facts are making sure that shifting to safer energy sources would be possible

How to get to a Shopping Mall

Nowadays, especially in suburbs, most supermarkets are not close to train stations unlike in the past because of the motorization. If I go there by my car, it is pretty simple and it doesn’t take much time. However, to reach there without a car does take much time and effort. I will tell you how to go to a shopping mall without driving a car.
First, you need to get on a bus or bicycle to go to the train station. And you need to wait for a train for a while. You need to get off the train at second station.
Then, you need to get on a bus again to the shopping mall. If it is late at night, it is going to take a long time.

Cell Phones

12/11, 7:22 AM
I used a cellular phone for the first time in my life a long time ago for my job. It was a big and heavy one and it was difficult to carry around. I thought that it was inconvenient. Later, when I was in the monorail, a person who was right next to me began to talk all of a sudden. It was the first time that I saw that type of small cell phones which are popular currently.
I think that cell phones are pretty useful but they also cause additional stress in our daily lives because we have to communicate all the time anywhere. We cannot hide anymore than ever, and some people are addicted to using cell phones and smart phones nowadays.
Added to that, these gadgets require us to multi-task like walking and typing at the same time. It is dangerous sometimes on the street. Therefore, my view of cell phones is both positive and negative. Since these cell phones are convenient and addictive, it is almost impossible to return to life without them.
