Meeting with Paul McCartney and his concert review.

Last November, Paul McCartney came to my town to perform a concert. I took the picture that you see on my profile on the street beside the sumo wrestling venue the day before the concert day, when he came to watch a sumo match. He seems friendly to his fans because he opened the car window by himself to say “hi” to his fans. The concert took place in a big indoor baseball stadium. The audience was probably more than 35,000. He performed two concerts twenty years ago in the same stadium. This was his second visit to my town. The difference between the show twenty years ago and this tour’s show was the back-up band members, the way of communicating to the audience and the length of the show. Current band members are as good as the previous band’s members. However, the way of communicating with the audience changed a lot this time. Japanese captions for Paul’s words were available and Paul spoke more Japanese, including our local dialect on the stage. So this time, the audience could understand fully what Paul said on the stage. For example, “Black Bird” was written in support of the civil right’s movement in the US. Talking about the time length of the show, Paul sang 37 songs without interval in almost three hours. It was longer than the concert twenty years ago. Considering his age, it was amazing! It seems that he has not only talent for singing but physical strength as well. I totally got satisfaction from the gig that night. I was totally satisfied with the concert.
